One of the hallways at East Moriches Elementary was decorated with blue and yellow hand prints to honor World Down Syndrome Day.
The colorful display was a show of solidarity, support and awareness.
Ava Marcario, a student teacher for Mrs. Papa, spearheaded the effort. She encouraged all students and staff to wear blue and yellow and mismatched socks on Friday, March 21.
Marcario decorated a large banner for the hall and had students color and decorate cut outs of their hands. It was a vibrant display of support.
